Poetry, Books, and Jokes!
Poetry
Poetry is simply a way of expressing emotion and feeling through words. Anyone can write a poem! As you can see I have three poems written here. two of my three are about life and its positives and negatives. My final poem is about my sister, who has achondroplasia. As you can tell from my poem, I protect her at any cost.
Life can go on,
Life can end.
Life can take you up, down, and side-to-side.
Life’s ups feel as euphoric as laughter.
Life’s downs are like being trapped in a sealed box.
Life’s rails are broken giving you splinters
Life can take you on a journey past the pain.
Life is short for those that enjoy roller coasters.
Life can be long and scary for those who are afraid of the ride.
Life should not be lived as a simple task.
"Poetry is when an emotion has found its thoughts and the thought has found words."
-Robert Frost
Running out of time.
We are running out of time.
Live live live.
Hardships are a war that must be fought.
Life is short,
So you must find the high grounds.
Up, down, up, down.
Like a roller coaster flying up, down
Until the ride,
Until life,
ends.
Safe as if she could never leave,
Her fragile hand in the palm of mine.
The Lucy to my Susan,
Searching through the heavy world of words,
I can protect her,
From the ear-splitting sound of hatred.
She looks for guidance in me,
Like I am a professional in the world of harm.
Once I discover beauty and peace exists,
We will enter through the wooden door.
Books
Many people read books, and some books have a greater impact on that person than others. I recommend writing book reviews as a way to persuade readers to read or not read a book. Here I wrote a book review about The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
The Fault in Our Stars is a novel written by John Green where love and resilience align to portray a tragic storyline filling hearts with hope, loss, and despair. Hazel Grace, a teenage girl living with lung cancer, feels demoralized about her life with such a difficult disease. When she meets Augustus Waters, a gregarious and bubbly teen boy who shares the struggle of cancer, her world shifts. A simple support group turns into a journey of love, life, and desire. Hazel Grace changed from a demoralized and hopeless girl, to someone that embraces life and its value. With the help of optimistic Augustus, Hazel is forever transformed. This book shows the struggles of illnesses like cancer, and their impact on daily life. By creating a romance between Augustus and Hazel, John Green displays an emotionally turbulent relationship by using their diseases to bring them closer together while they also experience tragedy and sadness. John Green wrote this book in a style that fits the atmosphere of the plot beautifully. His connection to the readers develops the storyline because of the bond of the readers to the characters. Though this novel is a romantic tragedy, John Green utilises humor and wittiness to appeal to his audience and to further the personalities of his characters. Personally, as someone who has experienced weak lungs and has a history of cancer in my family, this book taught me that loss is felt differently. Although it can be hard to communicate and help yourself during these times, it is important to focus on yourself and the ones you love, especially during loss. If you wish to dive deeper into your emotions, please read this book!
Jokes
I, personally, love to laugh. However, I hate awkward silence. So... a great way to make others enjoy your presence and avoid awkward silences is to crack some jokes! Here are some of my favorites from Today.com!
What month of the year has 28 days?

Why don't cats tell a lot of stories?

They only have one tail!
My dog sat on a piece of sandpaper.

It was ruff!
